Ardsley High School subscribes to the following online databases, all of which may be accessed from both school and home. Ask Ms. Goldmeer for the usernames and passwords.

BLOOM'S LITERARY REFERENCE CENTER This literary database examines/analyzes great writers, important works, memorable characters, and influential movements and events in world literature.
DISCOVERING COLLECTION           A fully integrated database containing thousands of curriculum-targeted primary documents, biographies, topical essays, background information, critical analyses, full-text coverage of 400 magazines, over 10,000 photographs and illustrations, and more than 8 hours of audio and video clips.
DISCOVERY EDUCATION (FOR TEACHER USE)      Video library with over 9,000 titles
EBSCO Master FILE Select contains full text for over 750 journals relating to a broad range of topics including general reference, social sciences, business, health, general science and current events.

Searchasaurus is a collection of reference materials geared toward elementary and middle school users.

TOPIC Search is a full-text resource designed for middle school students and above, teachers and librarians exploring social, political and economic issues as well as scientific discoveries and more.

 

FACTS-ON-FILE - MODERN WORLD HISTORY

 

Covers the people, places, and events in the broad expanse of history–from mid-15th century to the present.
FACTS-ON-FILE: SCIENCE Content includes in-depth essays on environmental science, weather and climate, new biology, the history of science, and human anatomy, as well as a section on mathematics. You can also find experiments, diagrams, and biographies.
GROLIER ENCYCLOPEDIA

Provides access to encyclopedia articles, Web links and periodical articles.

 

HISTORY RESOURCE CENTER (UNITED STATES)

 

Diverse, electronic multidimensional collection of uniquely combined current full-text periodicals, multimedia reference articles and overviews and facsimiles of historic documents.
JSTOR Access to scholarly, academic journals in all disciplines that date back to the 1600's.
Literary Reference Center This database provides literary analysis, biographies and articles on writers. You must use your Westchester Public Library Card to log on.

  • The Twayne Authors Series - Twayne World, US, and English Authors each contains the full text of 200 frequently used Twayne Literary Masters books on individual World, US, or English authors, for a total of 600 individual full-text titles.

  • ˇInforme! - Full text articles from the most popular Spanish language and bilingual periodicals.

OPPOSING VIEWPOINTS Provides a complete one-stop source for information on social issues. Includes viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full-text magazine & newspaper articles.
PSYCHOLOGY COLLECTION Academic journal devoted to issues in interdisciplinary and applied psychology.

Provides access to newspaper and periodical databases, including 669 magazine titles on a wide range of topics, educational journals and national newspapers.
PROQUEST HISTORICAL NEW YORK TIMES (1851-2006) Over 150 years of primary source documents from the NYT. You must use your Westchester Public Library Card to log on.
